North Valley YMCA offers free membership to vaccinated teens

NORTHRIDGE, CA – Teenagers who have been vaccinated can now receive another bonus in addition to coronavirus protection: a free membership in the local YMCA.

The YMCA of Metro Los Angeles has announced that it will provide two-month gym memberships to people ages 12 to 18 who have received at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine. The incentive was offered through a $200,000 grant from Kaiser Permanente designed to boost the Y’s coronavirus vaccine efforts, education and awareness.

The program will be available to new members only until capacity is reached. The North Valley YMCA is located at 11336 Corbin Ave.

Vaccinated tweens and teens can present their vaccination card at any of the 21 open Los Angeles-YMCA locations in the Los Angeles area to receive the free two-month subscriptions.

“We thank Kaiser Permanente for partnering with us to encourage young people to get vaccinated against COVID-19 to help their communities move towards pandemic recovery,” said Victor Dominquez, Executive Vice President/ Head of Mission Advancement for YMCA-LA.

“This donation strengthens our outreach to educate high-risk communities about the benefits of getting vaccinated. The incentive of a free Y gym membership provides an inclusive opportunity for young people who may not have had access or funds to join a gym and exposes them to the importance of regular physical activity in building an overall healthy lifestyle,” he added.
