Frontline workers are eligible for free membership at Milner Gardens at Qualicum Beach – Parksville Qualicum Beach News

In sincere appreciation for the various frontline workers in the Parksville Qualicum Beach area, Milner Gardens and Woodland in Qualicum Beach has offered these essential workers a free membership for one year.

Ian Lindsay, of Re / Max Anchor Realty, said eligible people in the area include grocery store workers, nursing home workers, Vancouver Island Health Authority area workers and other COVID medical workers frontline in the region.

“The goal was to create relief, or a space of escape, for all of these amazing people who are on the front lines and so often taken for granted,” Lindsay wrote in an email to PQB News.

Milner Gardens and Woodland executive director Geoff Ball said Lindsay’s team at Qualicum Beach contacted eligible businesses in the area and asked them to let their employees know about the opportunity.

Vouchers are valid for an individual membership or a family membership with two adults and regardless of the number of children living in the household.

The one-year free membership begins on the day the vouchers are redeemed, with an extended deadline of March 31, 2022.

Ball said the idea stemmed from a conversation he had with Linsday last winter, where they both wanted to recognize everything frontline workers have done for the community since the start of the pandemic. of COVID-19. They first distributed the vouchers in early 2021, where around 1900 were sent. Ball said a few hundred of them have been redeemed so far.

“Primary care physicians are still in tremendous burnout. And we both felt very strongly that Milner Gardens is a very therapeutic place. It is very restorative, peaceful, calm, quiet. It’s a chance for people to reconnect with nature, ”he said. “It’s the kind of place that would help those who have invested so much in the rest of us to get by, and give them a chance to rejuvenate and have a good connection with nature and beauty. . ”

For those who have received a voucher and misplaced it, they can contact Lindsay at Re / Max Anchor Realty and request a replacement with proof of employment provided.
